Hi,
There are a number of video recordings of podcamp published on the podcampboston site at .... http://podcamp.pbwiki.com/BostonRecordings. Check back as I am sure there will be more as folks get back to work and their lives.
Also, a tremendous review of many of the discussions can be found at Beth Kanter's blog ..... http://beth.typepad.com/beths_blog/podcamp/index.html . Beth must have been writing all thru podcamp as I noticed a number of posts on Saturday from Beth. Nice job Beth.
Most folks that know me know that I have been listening to podcasts for a while now. I love listening to the Technology and Management podcasts, and have really been considering publishing my own podcast. One of my weekly podcasts is the Best Damn Tech Show, Period. , which is a Technology Show with a little bit of an EDGE to it. Most of the crew from Best Damn Tech was at Podcamp Boston and I got to meet them all.
Drew Olanoff - DR Drew, Adam Plante - Plant, Chris Schmidt - Smitty, Brandon Morse - The guy with the camera, and Shauna Paukune from scriggity, were all at the PodCamp. I met Shauna first and after talking to her for about 10 minutes and letting her know that I was a frequent listener, she dragged Drew and the crew over to introduce themselves. We spoke for about 5 minutes, they thanked me for listening and were very humble.
The last discussion on Saturday was with the crew from Best Damn Tech Show, Period. The discussion was titled "Behind the Show: Drew Olanoff and the cast of the Best Damn Tech Show, Period." When we started there were about a dozen folks in the room, but as time went on, more and more folks came in and eventually there were over 50 folks in the room asking questions and engaging Drew and the others in conversation. Brandon recorded the discussion on a video camera and was running around the room trying to capture anyone who had a question.
On Sunday, Drew and Shauna hosted a discussion in the big room titled "YouTube, MySpace - Getting people to watch with BDTSP's, pluggd and scriggity's Drew Olanoff and Shauna Paukune" . There were a lot of folks in attendance and Plante, Smitty and Brandon recorded the discussions on video. When this was over I asked the crew for a picture and they asked me to join in as well. I have included the picture at the end this post.
One thing that really struck me about these guys and girls was their passion about podcasting and videocasting and their passion to make their podcasts and videocasts better. In both discussions, Drew asked the group repeatedly for feedback, letting everyone know that they are open to both positive and negative feedback.
Anyway, that was the highlight of my weekend and I would certainly recommend that anyone looking for technical podcasts should check out Best Damn Tech Show, Period, it is "TECH with an EDGE".
Podcamp Boston is just wrapping up and was certainly great. I will share with you multiple posts as an overview, and summary would be too long.
For those of you that do not know what PodCamp Boston is, my unofficial description is a conference of content delivery folks that use tools like blogging, podcasting and video casting to communicate for fun, passion and business. I have been to a lot of conferences and trade shows and this was the best conference that I have attended. One thing for sure is this was not a trade show, but instead a user run conference of folks that are passionate about what they do who were very willing to share what they have learned.
After talking and listening to many participants this weekend, I was very impressed with the momentum surrounding this somewhat new medium of blogging, podcasting and videocasting. Some of the participants that I will follow-up on are The Best Damn Tech Show Period, Shauna and Scriggity , The M Show, Blip TV, David Berlind and many more.
More to come .....
I live in the Boston area and will be attending Podcamp Boston on Saturday and Sunday.
I am looking forward to talking with a lot of folks at Podcamp and exploring collaboration with folks that would help me to expand my blog or help others expand their blogs or podcasts.
