Annoying Vista & Firefox 3 Problem
I ran into a little problem with Vista SP1 and Firefox 3. The Adobe Flash Player will not run on Vista in the Firefox 3 browser, however it runs just fine in IE and older versions of Firefox.
I received the "Additional plugins are required to display all media on this page" in the browser and there was a link to download the plugin.
However, after downloading the plugin and restarting Firefox, I still have the problem.
I, too, found this problem. Googling for a search today, and found your post.
Hope we can get it resolved soon! I love Firefox 3!

I have this problem too, except on XP. Took me fresh download of Flash from Adobe and a couple of restarts to get YouTube and some other Flash builds running, but my MySpace template still is giving me issues (it uses some older Flash methods).
I was also seriously bummed that my install of 3 blew away a reserved copy of my bookmarks and used an older set in a default folder that didn't have some updates.
I'm kinda surprised this new install was so invasive and not well checked against latest Flash. I'll be more careful about installing Firefox in the future (if I stick with Windows. Angling to move to Mac and Linux this year anyways).

I'm having similar problems, except mine is that Flash eventually just stops working. Youtube videos play for 2 seconds with no sound, then stop. So I have to close Firefox (and lose all my tabs!) and then reinstall Flash, and it will work for a little while, before it stops working again. I can't find a solution anywhere! Will you e-mail me if you find a solution?

I'm having a problem with Firefox 2.0.0.11 and Flash 10. I hope this gets straightened out soon. Not only doesn't it install, but it locks up my Firefox.

some of you might have the NOSCRIPT addons installed, then you need to allow one or two sites (bottom right).

I am having problems with some specific webpages like 188bet.com, sbobet.com. When i use similar 3-4 webpages, my CPU is working fully (90%-100%). I have 4000 RAM, so this can't be normal. IE works perfect. Other computer, with XP, also ok with all programs. I use VISTA by the way.

I had the exact same issue; .swf (flash) files would not work in Firefox. After trying many things I found suggested on the web, none of which worked, I stumbled on the very simple solution by accident. It's just a matter of telling Firefox which program to use as the default for opening flash files, and this is easy to do!
1. Make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Flash for non-I.E. browsers downloaded and installed (You can get it here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
2. On the Firefox toolbar, click on "Tools" - "Options" - "Applications."
3. Scroll down to "Shockwave Flash Object (Application/x-shockwave-flash)" and make sure that it it set to "USE SHOCKWAVE FLASH (in FIREFOX)". If it is set to use the wrong flash player, simply click on it and a drop-down menu will let you select the correct one if you had downloaded and installed Flash for Firefox.
Note that "Use Flash Player" is not the same thing as "Use Shockwave Flash (In Firefox)." That is what had been set as default in my browser and why it was not working.
I hope this solves your problem as easily as it did mine!
