Lunchtime Walk

I like to get out on Fridays and take a walk at lunch. This past Friday was a nice day and I pulled out my iPhone and took a number of pictures. Here is a visual outline of my walk .....

My office is far from the Main Campus so I walk by most of the MIT dorms on my way to the Main Campus ....

When I get to the Main Campus I like to walk down the mile long corridor and this is where I begin .....

New Microsoft Ad

Here is the first Microsoft Ad with Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld. I almost missed the point, but then realized that Bill was communicating to Jerry with his ass.

I think they need to be a little more creative that this ....

End of the Summer Blues

djWell, here it is, the end of summer. I bet that many folks are saying the same thing this weekend, "Where did the summer go?" It seems like yesterday that this nice weather started and the students left for the summer.  It's so nice driving to work with 90% of the student population somewhere else. The only consolation for me is Football Season and the Patriots start next week which I am looking forward to.

Cathie and I were out doing errands today and we stopped in at Dairy Joy in Weston for supper. We had Molly and Rocky with us and it was a perfect place to get good takeout, eat in the car and not have to worry about the dogs who love to walk around the grounds there.

FlatEarth Theatre

My son Kevin started a Theatre Company with his friend Jake and they are really starting to get on their feet and consistently produce high quality n28322229337_37shows. Their Theatre Company is called FlatEarth Theatre and their next show is August 15, 16, 17, 21, 22 and 23 at the Arsenal Center for the Arts in Watertown Ma.

This next show is a series of One Act plays called "Sister Mary Ignatius explains it all to you" and "the Actors Nightmare". Both shows are comedies and a great cheap night out.

For more information or to reserve tickets please call 617-926-1245 or send a note to me and I will put you in touch with my son.

Updated Vista Problems

Back in June I posted about a Vista - Firefox 3 problem with Flash and I wanted to share with you that it appears to be fixed. I use my Vista laptop when traveling and after pulling it out today, it updated Firefox, so I re-installing the flash pluggin and Flash worked.

My Vista laptop is a Dell Latitude D420, and my everyday desktop is a Dell Latitude D830. My only other observation is the battery life on my Dell D830 is 3 times as great as the Dell D420, however the Dell D420 is half the size and half the weight of the D830. I prefer the D420 for short trips but need to take the D830 when I know that power may be an issue.

Apple is not Perfect

Apple has been pointing out Microsoft's flaws for a while now, and I bet the no one from Microsoft points out that Apple dropped the ball on their big rollout of the new iPhone ......

Anyway, I am looking forward to my new iPhone this week, and I am glad that I waited a couple of days, before going to the Apple Store.

Boston Sports Teams

With the Celtics winning the Championship, there is a lot of talk about sports teams in Boston. I have my favorites, and admit that I am a fair weathered fan when it comes to the Bruins, Celtics, and Red Sox, however I am a diehard Patriots fan and can't wait for the season to start.

Here is a list in order of preference, of my favorite Boston Teams ....

As I said, the Patriots are at the top of my list .......

And then there is the Bruins, I know that have not done well in a while, but I was always a Bruins fan

And next are the Celtics .......

and finally the Red Sox  .....

The Red Sox really fell out of grace in 1978, and it's going to take a few more Championships to have them move up in my list.

Cole's Blog

I wanted to point out a blog of a friend that I think is worth following. The blog is called "Cole" and the author is Cole Jolley. I have know Cole for about 8 years and it's obvious that he has caught the blogging bug.

What's great about Cole's blog is that it is a little more diverse than my blogs. Where my blogs are mostly about technology and my favorite interests, Cole writes about Technology, the Environment and Politics in a thorough and articulate manner.

Check it out ...... http://colejolley.blogspot.com/.

Boston Celtics Championship

Congratulations to the Boston Celtics.

Thank-You Celtics and Thank-You RED .....

We are very lucky in New England to have so many great sports teams. The Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox and even the Bruins. In the last seven years, Boston sports teams have captured 6 different championship titles. The Patriots have 3, the Red Sox have 2 and now the Celtics have one.

One common sports thread in the last decade is the Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics are all under new management.  So, I guess it's time for new management of the Bruins.

Anyway, Thank-You Celtics ....
